Most of the underground is not easily accessed, but we have more than 20 caves that can be visited easily and a few mines that offer tourist visits as well. Of those I chose three experiences that I have experienced and are my favorites.
Slovenia's surface - let's be honest - with it's 20,273 km2 is not too big. But have you heard about Slovenia's underground? At the moment we have counted over 13,000 caves and the number is changing constantly as Slovenian spelunkers are discovering new caves as we speak.

Slovenia is rich with waters, we have plenty of good drinking water, some (cold) mineral waters and many hot springs as well. There are more than dozen spas in Slovenia, mostly situated on the eastern part of the country, each known for something special. If you are looking for health resorts than browse spas according to their health specifications. Almost all of them offer medical wellness and wellness and selfness programmes, including different styles of saunas, massages, therapies etc. A few of the spas have even Thermal Water Park. What attracts visitors in the winter as a ski jump turns into a great summer activity. The Wold's biggest ski jumping hill becomes Wold's steepest zipline. Is it really? Try it out and let me know whether it is or it isn't.
Many people call this waterfall, Waterfall Kozjak, one of the most beautiful or one of the most picturesque waterfalls of them all. I would definitely agree with them.
There are a few events in Ljubljana that bring together young and old and if you happen to be in Ljubljana tomorrow, consider yourself lucky.
It is strictly personal, but Škocjan Education Trail is one of the most spectacular one in the country. And even though you don't need to be very fit to manage this trail, you will be highly rewarded. I can't emphasize this enough, but for everyone on the lazy side, I assure you, it is not a hard walk. Kokoš - name of a hill - might remind you of a coconut but it has nothing to do with it. Kokoš is a hen. Or, in this case, a hill that offers an easy and pleasant walk. Spring is back and eighties are also back. Well, if we want to be honest, they have been for a while. But when was the last time when you've played mini golf?
You can play it while visiting Ljubljana, mingling among mainly locals. Mini golf is situated almost at the centre of Ljubljana, at the edge of a Tivoli park, near the sport halls and National Museum of Contemporary History. |
